Trees Idaho Launches Free Tree Program in the Treasure Valley: Grow a Greener Community!

The Treasure Valley is about to get a little greener! Trees Idaho, in partnership with local communities and the Treasure Valley Canopy Network (TVCN), is launching a free tree giveaway program for residents across the region, including Nampa, Caldwell, and parts of Meridian. This initiative brings free trees to Treasure Valley homeowners, helping families plant mature trees that beautify their yards, reduce summer heat, and support a healthier local environment.  

What Is the Free Tree Program? 

Trees Idaho, the nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community forests across our region, is rolling out an exciting free tree program. It offers 4–10 foot-tall trees at no cost to qualifying homeowners throughout participating Treasure Valley cities. These trees come in 7–15 gallon pots and are selected for their ability to thrive in Idaho’s climate, providing immediate shade, wildlife habitat, and energy savings for years to come.  

📅 Launch Date: Trees become available for reservation at 9AM on March 9, 2026.  

🍃 Participating Cities (Spring 2026): Caldwell, Nampa, and portions of Meridian.  

🌳 Fall 2026: Boise (separate season).  

🏡 Limit: One free tree per household to help spread this benefit across the community. *Tree recipients must live within the designated area.   

Once reserved, tree recipients choose either self-planting or joining a community volunteer planting event where help is available.

Trees Idaho plans additional giveaways throughout 2026, including a fall tree program in Boise later in the year, so there will be even more opportunities to get involved if you miss the spring launch.

To join the free tree program: 

• Visit Trees Idaho’s Free Tree page on March 9, 2026.  

• Select your tree while supplies last.  

• Confirm your order and choose your planting preference (self or volunteer event).
